Please note that the transfer of the 12 men traditional line fish right is subject to the approval of deputy director general of Marine and Coastal Management. (See section 21 Below)

"In terms of section 21 of the Marine Living Resources Act 18 of 1998 ("the Act"), an application to transfer a commercial fishing right must be submitted to the Minister in writing for his approval. The Minister has delegated this power to the Deputy Director-General ("DDG"). Approval must first be obtained from the DDG before the right holder sells his right to any third party.The agreement between the right holder and the third party should be made conditional upon approval being obtained by the DDG ("Department"). If approval is not obtained first the right holder is acting in contravention of the Act. It is therefore recommended that the right holder is informed about this as soon as possible".
